SUMMARY:Brake Light Clinic Training
DESCRIPTION:After many long months in the works\, OCDSA Mutual Aid is preparing to start free Brake Light clinics\, which are open and free to the community. This cheap\, easy program helps mitigate law enforcement interactions with community members and keeps everyone on our busy roads safe. In preparation for this undertaking\, OCDSA Mutual Aid will be hosting a Brake Light Clinic Training on Saturday\, 13 December from 3:00-4:30PM to teach attendees skills such as how to change a brake light\, how to set up a Brake Light Clinic\, how to interact with community members in need of brake light changes\, and how to pass these skills along responsibly. The location of our first training is still in the works\, but please keep an eye out for next week’s newsletter as we plan it out!

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, 18 October is the second part of the No Kings Protests that occurred earlier this year. On 14 June this summer\, the first No Kings Protest saw nearly 6 million people take to the streets nationwide to protest the tyrannical overreach of the Trump regime\, making it the largest single day of protest in the history of the United States. This second No Kings Protest promises to be even bigger\, and OCDSA in particular has been asked to participate. Join us for an afternoon of tabling\, peaceful protesting\, community building\, and coalition building at Centennial Park in Santa Ana on 18 October from 2:00-5:00PM. DESCRIPTION:Please join us this Saturday\, October 18th\, 2025\, at 8:30am-11:30am for our next “Know Your Rights” canvassing event in Costa Mesa! We will be meeting at Lions Park for a debriefing of the canvassing points\, and the breaking up of canvassing groups to reach at-risk groups and share with them “Know Your Rights” packets. If you would like to help feed needy families in our community\, please plan to bring whatever groceries you’re willing to provide to Irvine City Hall on Alton Pkwy and Alton Ave between 6:30-8:30PM on 22 August. All groceries will be dropped directly off to the Someone Cares on the morning of 23 August to help provide more food to more families in need!

SUMMARY:Demilitarize Santa Ana
DESCRIPTION:At the invitation of our allies at the Santa Ana City Council\, OCDSA will be heading to Santa Ana City Hall on Tuesday night to demand that the City of Santa Ana demilitarize their police department. This comes on the back of a proposed resolution to end the use of and authorize the return military-grade weapons – including less-lethal munitions\, robots\, drones\, and armored vehicles – that the police department has illegally purchased with the city’s funds to brutalize the populace. This issue has become such a problem in the city that even the SAPD themselves – a police department infamous for their heavy-handed brutality – has admitted that they “messed up” when they spent the last 2 years violating state military equipment laws.
