Learn the history and principles of Municipal Socialism and how to organize a movement where communities control resources, housing, and power. Through collective discussion, we’ll analyze local conditions, strategize organizing tactics, and assess the potential of Municipal Socialism as a path to revolutionary change. We will discuss “Municipalism: A Critical Review”, Chapter 3 of David Berman’s “Socialist Mayors in the United States”, and an examination of the difference between general law cities and charter cities. Join us to address key questions:
- How can we build collective power in Orange County through socialist organizing while keeping community solidarity?
- Who are our allies, and how do we center marginalized voices while challenging existing power structures?
- How do we sustain long-term organizing without burnout, co-optation, or division—and hold leaders accountable?
