At the invitation of our allies at the Santa Ana City Council, OCDSA will be heading to Santa Ana City Hall on Tuesday night to demand that the City of Santa Ana demilitarize their police department. This comes on the back of a proposed resolution to end the use of and authorize the return military-grade weapons – including less-lethal munitions, robots, drones, and armored vehicles – that the police department has illegally purchased with the city’s funds to brutalize the populace. This issue has become such a problem in the city that even the SAPD themselves – a police department infamous for their heavy-handed brutality – has admitted that they “messed up” when they spent the last 2 years violating state military equipment laws. Doors open at 5:30PM, but PLEASE plan to get there earlier if you’d like to attend.
